Maggie waited as Jeremiah, Sterling, and Gideon finished dressing. This morning she’d woken up before them, but getting out of bed without waking them had been impossible. Today, she’d take them to the warehouse. After hearing how badly Jeremiah had suffered before they came here, she couldn’t resist. He hadn’t been able to run at all because of the stress. They had to remedy that.
“You said you wanted to take us somewhere we could relax Where is that?” Sterling walked in, buttoning up his shirt.
“You’ll see and you’ll love it.” She grinned.
It would be enjoyable for her, too. Since she’d come home after her rescue, the warehouse was the only place she’d run. Partially because they’d wanted to ensure the investigation was finished before relaxing, but also because the confines made her feel a little more secure.
“Well, is this casual enough?” Gideon strolled in wearing faded blue jeans and a white short sleeved shirt.
“That will work. Now, all we need is Jeremiah and we can go.” Maggie grabbed her purse and the two bags she’d packed. Their clothes would be fine to rewear, but they might want a shower before they put them back on.
“I’m here and anxious to see what kind of surprise you have planned for us.” Jeremiah paced into the living room. “Did you want to drive?”
“Yes, we can take my car.” She smiled. They would love this.
“Well, let’s go. That grin is making all kind of promises. I want to see if you can keep them.” Jeremiah curled his arm around her.
“I think you’ll find the anticipation well worth it.” She leaned into him for a moment before straightening and grabbing her keys.
She led the way out to the car, waited until they were buckled in, and pulled out of her driveway. On the way there, she pointed out various things—one of the parks, a couple restaurants with great food, and the gym she sometimes used. She pulled into the parking lot of the warehouse and stopped in one of the slots up front. No one else appeared to be here, but more people used it in the afternoon or night than the morning. There would however be someone inside to watch over the warehouse and the people who used it.
“What is this place?” Sterling turned in his seat.
“You’ll see when we get in there.” Maggie smiled. She reached in her purse and pulled out the card that would gain them access to it. It was one of the changes Ethan put into place to make the place secure. Every member of the pride had one.
She grabbed her purse and the bags before getting out and closing the door to prevent further delay. Jeremiah walked over to join her as Sterling and Gideon got out of the car. She locked it, paced to the door, and swiped her card. Gideon pulled open the door.
“I smell plants, earth, and water.” Jeremiah inhaled deeply.
She put her hand in the middle of his back and urged him forward to the wide opening. Trees, grass, bushes, and flowers spread out before them. Paths wound their way through the expanse.
“We can run here?” Sterling stepped up beside him.
“Yes, that’s what it’s for. Safety when things are dangerous for us or just when we don’t feel comfortable or have time to go out to our normal running grounds.” Maggie rubbed Jeremiah’s back. “I thought with the tension of the situation, you probably didn’t get to run much.”
“Hi, Maggie, good to see you. Are you showing your mates the warehouse?” Steven Cassidy strolled down one of the paths.
“Yes, and getting a run in. I think they might need it more than I did when I got back home.” Maggie smiled. Not a surprise that he knew. The men of the pride sometimes gossiped more than women at the proverbial tea party.
“Just remember the rules for co-ed runs. No sex in either form while here. Women undress in the women’s changing rooms and men in the males.” Steve glanced at all of them. “If you need anything, I’ll be in the office watching the video feed.”
“I remember the rules. You won’t have a problem. We’re going to run and maybe get a snack on the way back home. We still have a few things to decide as a newly mated group.” Maggie rolled her eyes. Newly mated quartet caught on video having sex. Becoming the butt of that particular joke had never been her goal in life.
“Good.” Steve walked away.
“Now that’s over shall we change?” Gideon asked from her right.
“How about I go change first so that you can meet my cat as men? After we finish, I’ll change so I can meet your cats in this shape. I want to see you through both sets of eyes today.” Maggie turned to face her mates.
“I want to see that, too.” Jeremiah nodded. “We’ll wait for you here.”
“Here’s the bag with towels, soap, and washcloths. Just in case you want to shower before we leave.” She handed over the bag.
Jeremiah took it and stood looking at the greenery. Maggie left them and hurried into the changing room. She ripped off her clothing, but took the time to fold them. As much rush as she was in, putting back on wrinkled clothes didn’t appeal.
She straightened and rolled her shoulders. Tingles ran through her as the power surged under her skin. Her perspective lowered as fur covered her and the cat took over.
She inhaled and stalked to the door. It remained frustratingly closed. She rose on her hind legs and pushed it open. Ethan should have listened when she told him they needed automatically opening doors.
When it swung wide, she padded out and over to the men. They stared at her. Jeremiah lowered to his knees. She stepped up to him. He speared his fingers through her fur.
“My God, you’re beautiful.” Jeremiah lowered his head and rubbed his face against her neck.
“I knew you’d have darker fur, but that brown is gorgeous. Sterling slowly petted her.
“Such a lovely sleek cat. I can’t wait to run with you.” Gideon drew his hand down her body. “We’re going to undress. We’ll be back shortly.”
The men disappeared into the men’s changing room. She sat down and waited. They came out a few minutes later. She rose to her feet. Their fur was brown, maybe a shade or two lighter than hers. Her mates were gorgeous.
She rubbed against them before turning to the vegetation. She bounded off, leading them into the trees. They played, racing through the trees and along the path. She rubbed against them, any chance she could get, reveling in their scent.
When they were all tired, she led the way back to the front of the warehouse. She rubbed up against them and made her way back into the women’s dressing room. Now, she’d get to see their cats. She changed and dressed.
Maggie walked out and headed straight for her mates. They waited for her. She dropped to her knees in front of the brown cougars and stroked her hands over each one of them.
“Damn, you three are such perfect cats. I can’t believe your with me right now.” She leaned close and met their stares. “Now, go change. We have things to do before I go home and reacquaint myself with your bodies.”
