So day two progress was good. At this point, I’m at 4k total words on Her Mates’ Arms. I think that title will change, but it’s a good working title. Characters again went a little off plot, but as long as they stay within the framework, I can deal with it. They expanded what I thought would be a quick simple scene into something far more dramatic. I don’t know if I’ll continue to do this daily. I think it will depend on how busy I get.
Dixie is feisty. So far nothing outrageous has flown from her mouth, but I know it will. This is Dixie. No filter outside of work. But she hasn’t really been in a situation for that to happen yet.
Leftover Halloween candy is luring me, but I also want some dried fruit. Unfortunately, no dried fruit in the house. For the moment, candy wins.
I’ve been drinking a lot of hot tea to stave off a sore throat. I’m hoping it’s just some drainage and not a cold or fever coming on. Probably a little TMI. Fever and writing leads to a lot of rewriting if anything gets done at all.
This scene became a little longer because of characters adding drama. If they want to add more harm to themselves than I originally planned, go for it. I don’t know if I’ll finish this point before day three or if I’ll have to finish it on day three and move on to the next plot point then.
Below is a small snippet of day two’s writing.
“I know I told her to call us if she got in any kind of trouble. That didn’t go over well at all. She told me off. She said I had no right to know anything about her life.” Forrest smiled and shook her head. In a way, he’d deserved it.
“Did she smack you? Because someone telling me to do something when they weren’t even in my life, I’d be inclined to give you a little shove for it.” Maddox clasped his hands together.
“No, she didn’t really react until I called her kitten.” Forrest shook his head. “By the way, kitten can not be her pet name at all.”
Gable laughed. “Would you be insulted if someone called you puppy?”
“I get that now, but it just kind of popped out. She looked kind of cute standing up to me, like a fluffy little kitten.” Forrest paced in front of the coffee table.
“So what went wrong other than you had an argument with her.” Gable drummed his fingers on the arm of the couch. “You wouldn’t be this upset about an argument.”
So, if you’re doing NaNo, how are you doing?
Happy Reading!
