Day One #NaNoWriMO 2017

Well,  NaNoWriMo is underway. Already, my characters are surprising me.

Day One

For this years NaNoWriMo, I’m trying to write Her Bears’ Arms-Whyr Desires 4. Dixie’s story. Her Bears’ Arms could be temporary, but I do like it. And I get to write bears and the Whyr. I get to visit with Chloe, Leslie, Shonna, Dixie, and Penny (who you still haven’t met on the page because I haven’t gotten to revising that story and Catching her Mates isn’t out yet.nanowrimo, quote, inspiration

Here’s the blurb. It’s short and will change, but for right now, it works.

Whyrbear Dixie never thought mating would be smooth sailing, but this was unheard of. Her mates didn’t even want to talk with her.

Forrest Reed, Gable Bere, and Maddox Strang wished they could claim their mate, but with the danger following them it was better to keep her at a distance. They discover even keeping her away from them won’t ensure her safety.

They must work together, discover who’s hunting them, and stop it before they lose everything.

Now, back to the report of writing. I don’t know if I’ll do this very often, but I wanted to today.

I’d planned for the first scene to be a little poignant and sweet. Yeah, not what came out. I have no idea if I’ll change the scene in revision, but I have to admit that the more confrontational tone of that first chapter fits and makes what happens within the scene work even better than poignant. So yeah character takeover!

To this point, I have 1800 words. I’m almost finished with the first scene. I think I’ll be lucky if I get another 200 words from the last few things I want to include before I move on. 2000 would be good for a days work and I do have other things I need to do, but I’ll have to wait to see what the number for day one ends up being.

If you’re doing NaNo, I hope you have a fabulous, productive day!

Happy Reading!
