Boo in bagSo, this will be a fairly short update post.

I wanted to let you know what I’ve been doing. In the above picture, you’ll find Boo, my cat. He hides in bags or stalks things from them. He loves them for a short time and then he either rips them or simply ignores them.

Well, first, I’m wrapping up Stone and Fire 2. I’ll have to see if I’ve named that something other than that placeholder series reference because right now I can’t remember. I have five more scenes left to write and that includes the teaser Epilogue. I’m excited to finish this book. Not just because I get to start a new book, but that’s always fun.

No, I’m excited to get these characters their happy ending. I really like Dante, Thane, Cael, and Moriah. I have some things I need to make sure I put in the book. There are some threads that will lead up to a later book. But maybe not the next one. This story is already at 70k so readers are going to have a nice sized book to read.

I’m thirteen plot points away from finishing Penny, the third in the Whyr Desires series. If you’ve read Latent Desires, you’ll probably be wondering: who’s Penny. Or maybe third? If you’ve missed a few posts about Leslie’s story (not the title, by the way), you might not know that I’m revising it right now.

If you’ve missed a few posts about Leslie’s story (not the title, by the way), you might not know that I’m revising it right now.  (At one time, I called the story A Cougar’s Mates, but I racked my brain for alternatives. That title sounded too much like an older woman, younger men story to me. I didn’t want to cause confusion with the title. After contemplating a few alternatives, I came up with Catching Her Mates. I like it. How about you?)

I’m trying to nail down the plot on the fantasy novel that I want to start when I finish Moriah’s story. The concepts and characters have changed since I first began envisioning it. The more I learn about it though, the more I want to learn. It’s coming together and I think it will be a great book.

I’ve intended to do a blog about the dated version of the spreadsheets and have put it off because I was frustrated with my revision progress. I’ll get around to it, but I decided that I needed to keep track of my time a little better than I have. So I set about doing that. Cue a few days thinking about how I should do that. (I didn’t place my tracking sheets in the dated spreadsheet except for the sprint chart. First, because I know not everyone would want that. If it works well for me and there’s interest, I’ll share it later as a separate file. I decided to keep using that.) If you’re interested in the sheets I have available, find them on my writing page.  I’ve updated them a couple times.

I made a completely separate file to do that. The tracking is something I need to do to get a hold on what I’m doing and when. Not so much motivation. I’m also still using the dated spreadsheet in addition to the time tracking additions. I wanted to get a better idea of what I was doing. So I started putting a number on plotting time, revision time. I lump posting time in there with plot under a misc heading because posting and preparing blogs is part of the writing life. Revisions trudged along slowly lately and it took me a few days to recognize why. I’m just not doing it enough. I think about it a lot, but doing it didn’t happen enough. I’m using the time tracker now to make sure that I do it.

Happy Reading and have a great day!
