What is your name?
Jason Malone
Where are you from? (If different, how did you get here?)
A: I’m from a small town called McRae. I came here to go work and go to school.
Did you ever have a dream career or maybe something you want to do before you die?
A: I did have a dream career. I wanted to be a Nascar driver. I was a Georgia State Trooper for a few years, before I settled in Casworth. While it didn’t satisfy my need for speed, it did prove that sitting my butt in a car for hours on end wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life. My bucket list, I’d like to take Chloe places, like a cross country motorcycle ride, hiking in the mountains, maybe tour Europe and China.
What do you do? Is it what you always wanted to do?
A: I’m a Forensic investigator and member of the Special Investigations Unit that deals with shifter hate crimes. No, it’s not what I always wanted to do, but it is something that I like doing.
Do you have any family? Are you close to them?
A: Yes, I have family. My mother and father don’t live too far away. I have two sisters, both married, who live nearby as well. I have three brothers. One is in the military and is serving. I don’t know when he’s coming home next. My youngest brother is working his way around the country with a friend.  They’ll stay one place long enough to make money to move on and then set off for the next place that catches their eyes. My older brother joined a company straight out of high school and has advanced slowly up the ladder. Last year, they moved him to another branch out of state.  I talk to my parents and sisters at least twice a week. Catching time with my brothers is harder, but yes we’re close
I’ve heard that some whyr males will go search for their mates. Did you do that before finding Chloe?
A: No, it’s usually shifters older than I am. I’m 44. In human years, I’d be about midlife, but I’m not even close for a whyr. I did want a mate, but I was content to search in Casworth and the surrounding towns for the moment.

What did you think when you first met Chloe?
A: She’s here. Those were my first thoughts. But I was in bear form and I couldn’t get the animal to back away from her. All it could think about was there is our mate and our den partner is in the throws of mating fever. We need to get her. So I ended up scaring her and paying for it with mace in the eyes.

What’s your biggest fear?
A: After what happened to me, it’s not getting a future with Chloe. Dying before I get a chance to live a full life with her. Even knowing that Logan and Jason would take care of her, I want to be with her as well. I don’t want to miss the years and children we might have.

What would you do to anything that threatened her?
A: I’d end that threat. We’ve come too close to losing her. Hell, she lived in the same town with us and we almost didn’t find her. I’m not losing her.

How has your relationship with Chloe changed your life?
A: It’s made me happier and relieved my worry. Before we found her I was really worried about Logan. It’s also given me a new appreciation of how much I needed her.
Before we found her, I didn’t get why some of my friends were so indulgent with their mate. Now, I’d do almost anything to make her smile.
What’s the most important thing in your life? Past and Present.
A: In the past, I’d have to say that i’d gotten into the habit of putting my job first. I guess it gave me a sense of purpose and usefulness. Now, hands down, it’s Chloe and the family we’ll build. She’s the future and family I’ve always wanted.
