Entwined Excerpt #amwriting

I thought I’d share a short excerpt of my latest WIP. It’s loosely titled Entwined Fantasy. I don’t think the last part of that title will stick because it doesn’t fit the storyline even though I like the sound of the two words together. It’s more of a genre tag.

Entwined is a M/F fantasy set on a alternate Earth a lot like the one we live on today, but with a magical difference. This is a little rough, but enjoy!

Excerpt:

Alexander paused outside the door to the room where Chelsea waited. He took a deep breath and tried to calm down. He couldn’t show her how angry he was. That fucking bastard had gotten into her house. He’d placed a fucking spell trap meant to hold her captive. She had almost triggered the trap before she noticed it. Grant hadn’t told him much beyond that the spelled object was meant to hold her there, but it was enough.
Chelsea’s stalker had gone over the edge. As an Alfar, the man had access to such magics, but using it that way was a perversion. Alfar magic was meant to create, nurture or transform. They could tell by the feel of the power that it was a male as well as that he was one of them. Alexander knew that Chelsea had been hoping  that it wasn’t someone from their small city. Alexander had known that wasn’t likely. Outsiders didn’t come to Alden Glen very often. A spell protected the city. While it didn’t bar people from entering, it did make it disorienting for those who didn’t have business here. Not to mention that she didn’t leave Alden Glen that often so encountering, much less having enough contact with someone who’d stalk her from outside of the city was improbable.
A hand on his shoulder startled him. He looked over his shoulder and saw the Chief of Police Gallagher Stark. Gallagher squeezed.
“Take a few deep breaths and then get in there. She needs you.” Gallagher looked at the door. “Even after he broke the windows in her home and went into her home, she wasn’t prepared for this.”
“I knew she wouldn’t be. She didn’t think he’d go this far.” Alex sighed. No one had been able to come up with a reason for the stalking. Her ex-boyfriend was married and based on his location during a few of the incidents, he’d been cleared.
Alex straightened and squared his shoulder. As much as he’d like to drive his fist into the nearest wall, he had to control himself. Gallagher was right. He needed to get in there with Chelsea.
Happy Reading!
